My date doesn't freak the fuck out when he sees the tab because I didn't order a salad. (Sorry i'm such a fatass.)
Being considerate of me, making me feel comfortable, but having tons of fun at the same time. Isn't that what a real date is? Or are all the chick flicks lying to me these days?
For awhile I was like, "I'm not going to be like most girls. I'm not going to expect chivalry."

ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY hear you on this. I'm with you on all of this. The whole chivarly thing - proclaiming that you're going to be the cool girlfriend who doesn't ask too much of a guy instead of being up his ass about things. And we only do that because we THINK that even though we're not asking for anything, he'll be chivlarous enough to still give us what we deserve without HAVING to ask. of course, we find that in turn, we get nothing from the guy and it's okay to expect some chivalry from him. and i'm telling you, guys really do rarely take girls out on 'real' dates anymore. at least not where they don't expect vagina, of course. maybe that's why some months back i jumped @ the chance to go out on a date with a guy i really wasnt interested in, all bc he asked me out on a real date. turns out i never went out w/ him again, he wouldn't leave me alone for 3 months. when our elders tells us that "we have options" and "guys will be lined up for you". I expected loads of real dates, like you said, where I can pick from handfuls of good men. they didnt tell me they'd be lined up for my vagina, with only a decent guy once in a blue moon willing to take me on a real date, and that sadly, the only guys that ever did take me out were never guys i was actually interested in. it's hard to win @ this love game, eh?
